ROCK-A-BILLY ACADEMY

THE STRATEGY

Below is an example of what the strategy book that comes with your membership will teach.

It really is very simple.  Most bands and musicians do what I did.  Get a somewhat act together and get out there and hack around and try and make a living.  Back when I was doing it full time there was no such thing as myspace, youtube, twitter, facebook, cd's, dvd's....You are sayin' "Man how old are you?"  Old enough to know what it takes to fail.  And sure enough to know that there is one thing that will almost always guarantee success....And that is money.  You need a residual income.  The teaching that goes with  RA is vital, but really almost anyone who wants to learn this kind of stuff can research and read a lot of books.  Most of the books are not bent toward the musician, but the main teaching is to be found if you want to look.  So I really wanted not only to teach but to provide a resource that no one else was doing.  So here is how it works.

As you know if you are committed to $20 a month you need to get your value for your dollar.  So why should I expect you to keep paying?  For one thing the first 12 lessons are only a start.  They are just a start. (At the present time there are 24 total lessons.)  The learning will never end.  But if you look at this you can refer this to just 2 other musicians and your monthly deal is covered.  Now let's see what we can do with a few more.

Let's take the 5 piece band as an example.

Each member is paying $20 a month.  If each refer 12 other musicians then you have a net
of $500.  And that is each and every month.

First you save all of that money.  All of it until you have the essentials in place.  Assuming you have good equipment, the essentials are promo packs and cd's for sale.

You can not do anything without recording first.  Find your studio or what ever and determine how much making a really good cd will cost.  Next determine how much at least 150 copies will cost.

Then get to work on you promo packs. The promo packs need to include:

A good photo of the band
A good cd
A few good press clipings

And really that is all. You can make it better, but that is the absolute minimum.

After you have made the cd's and the promo packs it is time to just hold what money is coming in every month until you sell 100 cd's.  Be sure you make over 10% on each cd.  You are going to give a few away.  So keep that in mind when you do the math. Calculators are great.  So take you money that you have from selling your cd's and replace the ones sold and add the profit to the $500 you have coming in each month.  You should have about $700 this month.  Take half of this money and buy some really cool t-shirts.  You are going to try and make about 25% on the shirts.  You have to buy quality and you have got to have something that makes your fans want that shirt.  You have got to start branding your band and it starts with a cool logo.  You also need a very hip saying for the back.  You can use mine for the back.  It has always worked.

AT R-A

YOU ARE EITHER ON THE BEAT

OR YOU ARE JUST A BEAT OFF

Always worked for me.  The point is you are trying to double your monthly money.  That is the goal.  However you have to do it.  Selling or recruiting it is up to you.  Doing both will get you there faster.  Once you can see how you can double your money most months, then start using half of the money for marketing.  The cd's and the t-shirts are marketing, but now I am talking about things that will not be sold.  You are going to have to commit.  You need posters that you can give to venues.  You need full page ads in music rags in different cities.  You need to market yourself and you need the money to keep it going.  You can not just do this once.  You have to understand that the more you are seen, whether playing or in some add or a poster in some bar, is creating credibility.  This is where the average band gets left behind.  And by average I do not mean anything about their musicial ability.  Most bands do not have the resources to keep this up.  I am trying to show you that whatever you want you can do if you take care of the residual income.  That and the proper mindset that you are learning in this course is what I consider to be the best chance that I can personally give you.  And I want you to succeed.  I want that so bad for you.  This is just a start.  You can take this money and blow it, or you can decide to use it for the band's best interest.  It will do more for you than you will ever know.

You know how to use myspace and such.  But that is not going to be enough. It is vital that you think larger than that.  You have to think big.  As you are going through the course more ideas will come.  And at each one you will not have to say, "Man if we only had the money for xyz...."  You will have the access to that money and you will know how to use it.

Another strategy is collecting email addresses.  I will show you how to get email addresses at the clubs you are playing.  It is really very simple if you have a portion of your marketing budget dedicated to the club market.  This is why everything hinges on the residual income.  Passive residual income is the most powerful tool I can install to help you.  I will teach you how to build and use it.  In the club you have to have give-aways.  People will register with their email address.  I will teach you how.  I will also teach you how to set up an autoresponder  on your website.  If you use a portion of your monthly passive income, even 3 months worth, and give away a guitar or something similar, you can gather hundreds of potential fans.
If you us a promotional device such as this on your website, then I will promote your contest on this website.  I want to help as much as possible.  We are going to actively gather fans and I will teach you how to make money with your music with these fans.

As Always

Be Cool,

Roy Boy
